Mother's Day Blooms

My children and children-in-love along with the grandchildren gifted me in flowers for Mother's Day.

A Beautiful 'Sunny' Knockout Rose lived up to its name and bloomed a bright yellow.

This geranium couldn't be any brighter.  It makes me happy just to look at it.

These fuchsia dahlias are something new for me to try.

With all this color in the butterfly garden the butterflies are going to be hard to spot.

  1. Yay... what could better than flowers for Mother's Day? These choices are going to brighten up the butterfly garden for certain. Good thing the flying critters move around or you might miss them. :-) Happy belated Mother's Day to you.

  2. I love your yellow Knockout rose and the fuchsia dahlias are really pretty. Geraniums always make me feel happy.

    Enjoy ~ FlowerLady

  3. NanaK: Happy belated mother's Day to you! Your family knows how to gift a mom who loves gardening! All the flowers are so pretty. That dahlias is so bright in your garden.

I love that "sunny" knockout. Does it change color when it ages? I saw one in Lowes the other day, almost bought it, but then I saw the label said it is for up to zone 9. Sigh... Enjoy your beauty!

  4. Beautiful Mother's Day gifts, NanaK. They are very sunny and happy flowers. I'm sure those bright colors will bring even more butterflies to your garden.

  5. Meems - The butterflies, bees and dragonflies (haven't seen a hummer yet) do move around a lot. I'm trying to learn to take pics of them and I'm not being very successful. By the time I see them in the viewfinder they have moved on. At least I'm left with pics of beautiful flowers.

FlowerLady - I'm just enjoying having blooms and leaves after having pretty much nothing in January and February.

Ami - Yes, the Sunny Knockout does fade. This is my first bloom and the first day it was very yellow, today it is a buttercream, tomorrow?? I've read it fades to white. We'll see. I was also given 'White Out.' It is a single white rose with a yellow center. It hasn't bloomed yet but there are a lot of buds. I haven't decided exactly where to plant these yet. I don't think I want them next to each other. They are too similar in appearance. I like having different shapes and colors in the roses.

Floridagirl - I'm starting to branch out into brighter colors. I've pretty much stuck to pastels in the past. My inner Betty White is beginning to emerge in the garden:)

  6. I like your idea of getting plants instead of cut flowers. The plants will continue to let you remember the day long after the cut flowers are gone. You got smart kids!

  7. My kids have figured it out, too. Yay! Take a big whiff of those geraniums, Kay. Aaaaah, I love the smell. (I think it's the leaves!)

  8. So many beautiful and colorful flowers for mother's day. Lucky you!

  9. NanaK, Looks like you had a great Mothers Day. I can't think of a better gift than plants. Janis
